The Luxman PD-151 MkII is a high-performance belt-drive turntable engineered for exceptional analog music reproduction. It features a proprietary sine wave/PWM power supply, a high-torque DC brushless motor with PID control, and a 4.0 kg diamond-cut machined aluminum platter for stable speed and minimal wow and flutter. The static-balanced S-shaped LTA-309 tonearm with knife-edge bearing ensures smooth, precise tracking, while advanced vibration isolation and rubber damping insulators enhance sound quality. Three selectable speeds (33⅓, 45, 78 rpm) with ±6% fine-tuning make the PD-151 MkII an ideal choice for audiophiles seeking superior vinyl playback.
Key Features
- New LTA-309 Tonearm with Knife-Edge Bearing — Luxman's original static-balance S-shaped tonearm uses knife-edge bearing technology developed by SAEC. The machined aluminum arm base minimizes contact area to suppress unwanted vibration while ensuring rigidity. Supports stylus pressure, anti-skating, and arm height adjustment. Uses an H4 bayonet mount headshell for easy cartridge installation.
- High-Mass Platter & Precision Drive System — The 4.0 kg platter is precision-machined from thick aluminum billet with a diamond-cut finish, acting as a flywheel (moment of inertia: 0.219t·cm²) for smooth, stable rotation. The 16mm hard stainless-steel spindle uses a PEEK thrust bearing and brass radial bearing filled with organic molybdenum oil. The PWM power supply feeds a low-speed, high-torque DC brushless motor with PID feedback control for rock-solid speed accuracy at 33⅓, 45, and 78 rpm.
- Luxman Exterior Design — The 10mm thick aluminum top panel with hairline finish keeps the layout focused on the three core elements: tonearm, motor, and platter. All controls — power, motor on/off, speed selection, and indicators — are integrated into the front panel. The aluminum top pairs with a matte black lower housing for striking visual contrast. An optional purpose-built 4mm acrylic dust cover with cam/spring hinges is available separately (PD 151 Dustcover).
- Improved AC Inlet — Reversed mounting structure supports heavy power cables, suppressing movement and maintaining a stable grip.
- Headshell & Phono Cables — Includes a lightweight machined aluminum headshell with LUXMAN logo, an aluminum EP adapter, and audio-grade OFC DIN-RCA phono cables. Compatible with cartridges such as the LUXMAN LMC-5.
- Height-Adjustable Damping Insulators — Original insulator feet with up to 5mm independent height adjustment incorporate vibration-damping rubber to prevent feedback and external vibration transmission.
