Quadratic Audio MC-2
The Quadratic Audio MC-2 SUT transformers were engineered to provide very wide bandwidth when used with a wide range of moving coil phonograph cartridges. Hence, phase shift is at the very minimum which is important for accurate reproduction of the signal.
It is intentionally engineered to not be a sonic coloring Crayon. This allows for all of the dynamics, imaging, stage presence, and sonic transparency of the track to be presented to the preamplifier precisely as originally pressed onto the phonograph recording. Accomplishing this requires not only the very best transformer engineering, but state of the art lamination quality and high precision construction of the transformer.
The CineMag transformers are proprietary for the MC-2 and not available elsewhere. It uses the Quadratic Audio MC-1 as the basis upon which it is designed.
2 gain settings allow for 20dB gain in low and 26dB gain in high. The MC-2 ships with high gain setting. Setting from high to low is done using internal jumpers using the diagram in the manual.
We have found all of the MC cartridges we own to work very well with the MC-2.
