The Shelter 901 III is a Japanese-made low-output moving-coil cartridge designed for listeners who prioritize musical flow, tonal naturalness, and the ease of analog playback over an aggressively analytical presentation. It uses a hard aluminum cantilever and fine line-contact diamond stylus to retrieve substantial groove detail while retaining the full-bodied, relaxed, and engaging character for which Shelter cartridges are known.
Product description

Part of Shelter’s Legendary Line, the 901 III is a refined MC design that brings a generous, coherent presentation to serious vinyl systems. Rather than chasing hyper-detail or spotlighting every recorded artifact, it aims to make records sound convincing and emotionally connected from the instant the stylus meets the groove. That makes it an especially appealing choice for systems that need texture, image density, rhythmic ease, and long-session listenability.

Its 0.5 mV output is comfortably usable with most quality moving-coil phono stages or step-up transformers, while its 9.1 g mass and low-to-medium compliance suit many medium-mass tonearms. The line-contact stylus profile offers more precise groove tracing than a basic elliptical stylus, helping extract low-level information, extension, and clean tracking when setup is carefully optimized.

The 901III uses hard aluminum cantilever with line-contact diamond stylus chip sharing the same structure as the top of the line Harmony. The 901 II is a beautiful, sweet, easy to listen to cartridge that defines what analog and vinyl are all about. 901III provides comfort listening of analog playback sound from the moment when the stylus chip falls into the groove.
