The Shelter Harmony is Shelter Audio’s flagship low-output moving-coil phono cartridge, designed to extract fine musical detail while minimizing cartridge-body resonance and mechanical coloration. Its distinctive dry carbon-fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) body is layered and molded for high stiffness, internal damping, and isolation from external vibration; Shelter specifies a 60-ton compression rating for the material structure.
Product description
The Harmony combines that resonance-controlled monocoque CFRP body with a newly developed generator using oxygen-free copper coils and a short, hard-aluminum cantilever. A nude line-contact diamond stylus—specified at 1.6 × 0.3 mil (0.04 × 0.007 mm)—is intended to provide extensive groove contact, secure tracking, and retrieval of low-level musical information. The result is a refined, low-noise, dynamically expressive presentation suited to high-resolution analog front ends.
With its 0.5 mV output and 15-ohm internal resistance, the Harmony is relatively accommodating for a premium MC design, but it still benefits from a quiet, high-gain phono stage or a properly matched step-up transformer. At 8.5 g, it is compatible with a broad range of medium- and higher-effective-mass tonearms. Shelter specifies a tracking-force range of 1.4–2.2
Sweet. Just drop the Harmony on your favorite vinyl and listen. Sweet. And wow what a soundstage. And wow what balance from top to bottom. And how about that bass - tight, full and lively. The midrange is so sweet but not at the cost of dynamics. No syrup here - just great musicality and richness.
The Harmony is an ideal cartridge for the very high end enthusiast. It delivers everything a vinyl junkie would want!
