Sutherland Linear Power Supply (LPS) for 20/20
The LPS is Sutherland's dedicated power supply upgrade for the 20/20 phono preamplifier. One chassis holds two isolated 48 V linear supplies, one for each channel, so the 20/20's two-mono design is kept intact.
There are no active voltage regulators and no switching noise to interfere. Sutherland's aim is a lower noise floor and a more relaxed, effortless presentation.
How It Works
- Toroidal transformer to reduce the radiated magnetic field, with its primary windings wired in series for half the usual flux density.
- Full-wave rectified and current-limited, feeding a first-stage shunt regulator that smooths current draw and keeps current spikes from feeding back into the power line.
- Several stages of R-C pi filtering, plus a second DC shunt regulator near the audio circuitry.
- No active series voltage regulators and no switching regulator, so neither adds noise.
Before You Buy
Compatibility: made specifically for the Sutherland 20/20 phono preamplifier. It connects with two DC cables, one per channel.
Check your mains voltage: the LPS is not universal-voltage. It runs on 105–125 V AC. A 210–250 V version is a special order, and the voltage cannot be changed in the field.
