Here you will find tonearms for Transrotor turntables. Add one to your order and it will come premounted for you with a Transrotor turntable!
Transrotor Tonearms are available as a separate purchase without a Transrotor Turntable. They are available in 9" and 12" versions.
The Transrotor TRA 9 is a 9‑inch, medium‑mass tonearm engineered as a high‑precision partner for modern MM and especially MC cartridges, combining a highly inert arm tube with extremely low‑friction bearings for controlled, low‑resonance tracking. It is built as a premium, fully adjustable arm with sophisticated materials, magnetic anti‑skate, and pure‑silver internal and external wiring aimed squarely at high‑end analog front ends.
Design and construction
The TRA 9 uses a double tonearm tube made from two different aluminum alloys, nested into one another to maximize stiffness and suppress resonances without excessive mass. The front section is CNC‑machined from solid aluminum and joined to a massive bearing block, creating a highly rigid, low‑ringing structure optimized for energy control.
The arm is built from a mix of aluminum alloy, stainless steel, brass, ceramics, magnetic materials, technical plastics, silver, chrome, gold, and ruthenium, with finishes such as matte black, black/chrome, black/gold, and ruthenium available depending on market. This material mix and finishing approach is intended to balance mechanical stability, bearing precision, and long‑term corrosion resistance while presenting a visually luxurious aesthetic.
Bearings and mechanical behavior
Horizontal movement is guided by high‑end Japanese steel bearings, while vertical movement uses ceramic bearings, both pre‑loaded against each other to minimize play and breakaway torque. This bearing strategy is designed to deliver exceptionally smooth, quiet motion so the cartridge can follow groove modulations with minimal mechanical interference.
The bearing block itself is machined with a flat upper surface so installers can place a spirit level directly on top to verify azimuth and horizontal alignment. Overall, the arm is voiced as a low‑resonance, low‑friction platform that prioritizes tracking stability and fine detail retrieval.
Adjustability and setup
The TRA 9 offers full adjustability of key parameters: VTA, VTF, azimuth, and anti‑skate. Vertical tracking angle is set via two screw‑in height adjustment rods that raise or lower the arm tube in a parallel plane relative to the platter, allowing very fine VTA tuning.
The counterweight system is an aluminum alloy core with interchangeable brass weights and a fine central adjustment screw, enabling precise tracking‑force setting down to hundredths of a gram across a wide cartridge mass range. Azimuth can be adjusted by rotating the headshell section, and anti‑skating is magnetically generated and finely tuned via a threaded adjuster, with a reference setting around 1.8 g indicated by a red mark.
Wiring and connectivity
Internally, the arm is wired with pure silver van den Hul “Seven Stream” conductors, with oxygen‑free insulation and silicone damping to protect the signal and mechanically decouple the wiring from the arm structure. The external connection cable continues this scheme with a pure‑silver van den Hul lead of approximately 130 cm, terminated in high‑conductivity RCA or XLR plugs from WBT or equivalent, with silver‑soldered joints and silver‑plated cartridge clips.
This wiring topology is intended to maintain low resistance and capacitance and preserve low‑level information, aligning the arm with high‑resolution, low‑output MC cartridges.
The TRA 9 mounts on standard Transrotor 9‑inch SME‑pattern bases, with both round and SME‑slot armboards offered for compatibility with Transrotor and other turntables drilled for SME arms.
