You MUST choose a power supply option to operate the MAX Nero!
Different color, strong sound
Is it just a question of finish? That would not have been the impetus for us to develop the Max Nero. This is also about a material that has called the world's sound engineers to new challenges: polyoxymethylene, or POM for short. The material is super hard, requires precision mechanical processing - above all, POM absorbs resonances and still enables the high dynamic response of good record pressings. A win-win situation for us. We also designed the motor to be a perfect fit. As with the Alu-Max, you have the option of two tonearms, even up to 12 inches.
The Transrotor Max Nero is a high‑mass, non‑suspended belt‑drive turntable that combines a clean, modern aesthetic with serious engineering and clear upgrade paths, making it ideal for design‑conscious audiophiles who still want a flexible platform to grow into.
Core concept
The Max Nero is the darker, POM‑based variant of Transrotor’s Max, conceived as a “maximum reduction” design where everything non‑essential is stripped away to focus on speed stability, resonance control, and mechanical precision.
It sits as an entry into the Transrotor ecosystem but is built like a long‑term reference deck rather than a disposable starter table.
Design and materials
The chassis is machined from POM, a super‑hard engineering polymer chosen for its ability to absorb resonances while preserving the dynamic snap and transient speed of a good high‑mass deck.
All visible metalwork is executed in stainless steel, from the outboard motor housing to the platter weight, giving the Max Nero its distinctive black‑and‑steel, architecture‑grade presence on the rack.
Drive system and mechanics
An external AC motor in its own pod drives the POM platter via belt, with no rigid contact between motor and chassis other than the belt, dramatically reducing the injection of motor vibration into the record surface.
The platter and stainless‑steel record weight add meaningful rotational mass, supporting pitch stability, low noise, and the kind of unruffled, “black‑background” presentation associated with far more expensive designs.
Tonearm and upgrade flexibility
A steplessly adjustable tonearm base allows precise geometry setup and accommodates a wide variety of 9‑ or 12‑inch tonearms, depending on version.
The chassis is pre‑engineered for a second armboard, so users can later add a second tonearm for mono, alternate cartridges, or different sonic flavors without replacing the deck.
Positioning and sonic character
Max Nero is offered in packages with Transrotor’s own TRA tonearms and Merlo moving‑coil cartridges, delivering a ready‑to‑play solution that has already earned high‑end press awards for build quality and musical engagement.
Its sonic brief is authoritative and dynamically grounded rather than lightweight hi‑fi sparkle: a stable, full‑bodied, and composed presentation that rewards focused listening and system matching at a serious enthusiast level.
