The Transrotor Tourbillon FMD is a statement-level beltdriven turntable that uses Transrotor’s Free Magnetic Drive to deliver ultraquiet, speedstable vinyl playback from a massive acrylic and aluminum chassis.

Design and build

The Tourbillon FMD combines a clear acrylic base with handpolished aluminum hardware, creating an architectural, openframe aesthetic that showcases the mechanics rather than hiding them.

An 80 mmthick acrylic platter sits at the center, providing high rotational mass and excellent resonance control while visually floating above the base.

With dimensions of 52 x 52 x 30 cm and a weight of about 60 kg, the deck is physically imposing and engineered for extreme rigidity and vibration suppression.

Free Magnetic Drive technology

The FMD (Free Magnetic Drive) system magnetically couples the motor assembly to the platter, so there is no direct mechanical contact between drive and platter.

By eliminating belts, pulleys, and friction at the platter interface, the FMD architecture dramatically reduces transfer of motor noise, microvibrations, wow, and flutter, yielding exceptionally smooth, silent rotation.

A dedicated external Konstant FMD power supply manages the multimotor drive for precise electronic speed control and rocksolid speed stability. This is included in the package

Features and configuration

Standard features includes the FMD bearing, Konstant FMD supply, an 80 mm acrylic platter, and a 370 g chrome record weight for firm disc coupling.

The chassis supports multiple tonearm boards (commonly 9 or 12inch options), allowing the user to configure one or more referencegrade tonearms and cartridges to taste.

Transrotor’s Rotor Ring metal stabilizer further damps the record/platter interface, enhancing groove tracing precision and lowlevel detail retrieval.

Sonic character

The combination of highmass construction and contactfree FMD drive gives the Tourbillon FMD an extremely low noise floor, enabling a black background against which fine microdetails and ambient cues become clearly audible.

The Tourbilllon FMD is positioned it as one of Transrotor’s top offerings short of theirfully bespoke flagships, aimed at listeners seeking referenceclass dynamics, image solidity, and expansive, threedimensional sound staging from vinyl.
